Frequently Asked Questions

Can I donate to one specific person?

No. Every donation goes to the M.A.D. Recovery Fund, not to a named person. That keeps selection fair, and it is how charitable funds are required to work.

Are donations tax deductible?

Not yet. M.A.D. is in the process of forming as a New Jersey nonprofit and has not been granted tax-exempt status. We will update this page when that changes.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes. Check the box for a self-nomination on the nomination form.

Who qualifies?

New Jersey residents, 30 or older, currently in therapy for hemiplegia, paraplegia, or quadriplegia, facing real financial burden, who served their community before their injury or diagnosis.

Who makes the decision?

The M.A.D. review team, using the five criteria published on our Mission page. The same criteria apply to every nomination.

What happens if someone is not selected?

Nominations not selected are kept for up to 24 months, in line with our Privacy Policy, and may be considered again in a later round.

Is the information I share private?

Yes. Health and financial details are used only to review eligibility. They are never sold or published. Read the Privacy Policy for details.
